PARCC Communication
Dear District 15 Families,
This week your child will be bringing home their individual Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers (PARCC) results for the 2015-2016 school year. The PARCC assessment was administered last spring to District 15 students in grades 3-8 in the content areas of English Language Arts and Mathematics.
You will be receiving two score reports, one for their performance on the English Language Arts portion and the other for the area of Mathematics. The score reports will show your child’s overall score out of a possible point total of 850 and their performance level which ranks them on a scale of 1-5. The reports will also allow you to see how your child’s performance on last year’s PARCC assessment compares to other children in their school, throughout District 15 and across the State. If you would like more detailed information about the score reports, please follow the helpful links on our district’s website at https://www.d15.org/Page/671.
PARCC assessment results are one measure that we use to evaluate student and school progress. In our effort to continually improve as a school system, we look to multiple points of data to inform us of ways that we can enhance practices and procedures. We look forward to analyzing this year’s PARCC assessment data, in concert with our other local assessment information, to work at the district and school levels to better meet the needs of your children.
The purpose of any assessment is to generate information for educators and parents so that we can provide the proper and necessary supports to help children grow. However, no assessment can accurately convey the true abilities of your child nor can it tell the entire story of their progress. Teachers, school support personnel, and administrators are the experts about how your child is learning and progressing in their classroom and in their school and are invaluable resources for parents. I encourage you to reach out to your child’s teacher(s) with any questions you may have about their score report or academic progress.
As always, thank you for your continued support and commitment to your child’s growth and success. We look forward to continuing our partnership with you in our quest towards helping our students reach their fullest potential.
