McHenry District 15 Special Olympics
Special Olympics programs welcome participants with intellectual disabilities. Special Olympics provides quality training & competition, stresses athletic excellence, rewards determination, emphasizes health and celebrates achievements. We want athletes to do their best, and at the same time develop physical fitness, experience joy, develop skills and friendships. Currently, students enrolled in ALC & SAIL classes at McHenry Middle School participate in McHenry D15 Special Olympics. Mid October - mid December- Basketball Skills
November - February- Snowshoe
February - Mid March- Bowling
Mid March til end of May- Track & Field, Soccer Skills, Tennis Skills
We officially compete in Bocce Ball, Basketball Skills, Snowshoe, Track & Field, and Soccer Skills.
We practice once a week during the school day at MMS.
The athletes start out with stretches provided by Special Olympics.
Then we begin practicing the skills for the current sport.
