Hi, my name is Darina Cavazos. I am the music teacher at Duker Elementary, and I’m so excited to be starting another amazing year with your students! I’ve been teaching music in the district for the past 10 years, and I still love every minute of it. I live right here in McHenry with my husband, our son, and a small zoo—two goofy dogs and one very sassy cat! Our daughter is off at college, but we love having her home during school breaks. When I’m not teaching, you’ll probably find me spending time with my family, playing with our pets, or shopping! It’s going to be a fantastic year full of rhythm, singing, laughter, and learning!

Mrs. Dahlke

Hi, My name is Sandy Dahlke and I will be your child's Balanced Wellness teacher. This is a new class for students this year. I will guide your child through eight dimensions of wellness, which will provide ideas for healthy choices and mindful practices. Each month, your child will bring home a calendar of ideas that you can use to support what we are learning in class. I have been an educator for more than 20 years - this is my fifth year teaching for McHenry District 15. My philosophy is to lead with joy and celebrate each child's uniqueness.
I have three adult sons whom I adore and still love to spoil. My husband and I enjoy competing in US Masters swim meets and spending time outdoors. We are big into football - Cheering all weekend long. Friday nights for McHenry where my oldest son coaches, Saturdays for Illinois Wesleyan where my second son is a senior lineman, and Sundays for the Green Bay Packers!  Not to worry, as my youngest son is an EMT and Paramedic in training. In addition, our 19lb tuxedo cat, Elvis, keeps us on our toes.
I look forward to making memories with you this year!
